Five Graves in Dalwallinu

Located in the Dalwallinu Cemetery in the first row on your left-hand side as you walk through the entrance are 5 marble topped grave sites. One of the graves is the final resting place of Gus Liebe (Frederich Wilhelm Gustav Liebe) renowned master builder and a pioneer farmer of the Wubin area with his partner Wilhelm Klein. Of German descent Liebe was responsible for building His Majesty’s Theatre in Perth and the Peninsula Hotel in Maylands amongst others, before he turned his hand to farming. The book ‘Five Graves in Dalwallinu’ by Stan Gervas, (available at Craft Shop, Discovery Centre, Shire and Wheatbin Museum), provides an account of Liebe’s life and also explains the links with the other graves occupants.
