Business Retention & Expansion
A rich and diverse business community is the backbone of the local economy. The Shire acknowledges that existing businesses are the driving force behind economic activity and continue to develop projects to assist retaining and expanding these businesses.
Research suggests that they are responsible for;
- creating between 60-80% of new jobs;
- providing most of the investment for new community economic initiatives and infrastructure;
- generating ideas about possible new businesses; and
- often acting as an attraction for outside businesses to relocate or establish within the community.
Council continues to explore projects that are able to assist local businesses in all areas including marketing and promotion.
